Development of Telegram channels in Ukraine.

In 2017, there were only a few thousand active channels. By 2018–2019, their number began to grow explosively, with annual increases reaching triple-digit rates. This period marked the formation of Telegram as a mass channel for news consumption, discussions, and community building.

From 2020 onward, growth remained strong but gradually became more balanced. The number of channels continued to increase each year, while the growth rate steadily declined. By 2022–2023, Telegram had already entered a stage of maturity: the market expanded primarily through new niches, formats, and professionalization rather than sheer volume.

In 2024–2025, the total number of Telegram channels in Ukraine exceeded one hundred thousand. At the same time, annual growth dropped to single digits, clearly signaling saturation. Telegram is no longer about “who enters first,” but about “who delivers value.”

For content creators, this means higher competition for attention and trust. For brands, it means fewer but more predictable opportunities: working with established channels, clear audiences, and measurable impact. Telegram today is not just a distribution platform, but a space where influence, reputation, and long-term communication strategies are built.

Do you see Telegram as a platform that has already peaked, or is its next stage just beginning?
